Clinical Psychology in Hospital Emergencies, First Experiences
Main Article Content
Abstract
Psychological care in the Emergency Department is an area scarcely explored by the hospitals of the National Health System. Given this absence, in 2020, the figure of the Clinical Psychology resident was incorporated into the Emergency Department of the Hospital Puerta de Hierro de Majadahonda, thus forming a multidisciplinary Mental Health team. After three years of presence in this service, the perception of performance, differentiation of functions and general satisfaction with the figure of the residents by 20 psychiatry physicians and 14 psychiatry residents was evaluated by means of a survey. In the following paper we present an overview of the creation of the figure and role of clinical psychology residents in the emergency department, as well as the assessment of performance and overall satisfaction.
